Unconditional Love

My Jack

You let me in your heart and you loved me
without any walls,
restraints, or hesitation.

Always ready to defend me
against any perceived danger.
Ever wanting to protect.

Bringing me so much happiness
and never hiding how happy
I make you.

Your loyalty does not waver.
Content at my side.
Unconditional love.

A dog will teach you unconditional love. If you can have that in your life, things won’t be too bad.
Robert Wagner

Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get–only with what you are expecting to give–which is everything.
Katherine Hepburn

The greatest gift that you can give to others is the gift of unconditional love and acceptance.
Brian Tracy

Love beyond Measure

Have you ever been fortunate enough to know the feeling when someone trusts you implicitly,  how it makes you want to go above and beyond for them, and it feels like it would tear your heart in two if you ever broke that trust?

How about when you are absolutely adored by another, and you feel as if you can do no wrong in their eyes, how it makes you want to be an even better person, because they have so much confidence in you?

when you look into their eyes and know, beyond all shadow of doubt, you mean the world to them, how you want to shower them with all the love in your heart and soul?

Love is the most precious gift God gave to us. God is love and he gave his only son to die on the cross for us.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man would lay down his life for his friends.”  John 15:13

If you have someone in your life that feels this way about you, then count it the greatest blessing you could ever receive, for you are so truly blessed beyond measure.

“Affection is responsible for nine-tenths of whatever solid and durable happiness there is in our lives.”
C. S. Lewis

The Missing Piece!

I often wondered why a piece of you was gone.
Not that it made you any less desirable,
loved or complete.

Not that you performed any less,
For you have always exceeded my expectations.
Every day I become more and more in love
with everything about you.

And then I realized why I could not see
the missing piece.
You are entwined in every facet of my life.
You are always with me in my heart.

That piece is in me.
You gave it of yourself.
We are connected.

Pick Me! Pick Me!

Just another cupcake
Looking like the rest
Standing in the crowd
Wanting you to like me best.

Your eyes are moving
Searching each detail
Look! I have more sprinkles!
I promise not to fail!

My sweetness is inside
Waiting for you to taste
It would be my regret
If you let me go to waste.

Please pick me!
I want to be yours
I can’t decide for you
But my heart implores.

“The measure of choosing well, is, whether a man likes and finds good in what he has chosen”
Charles Lamb

The Mailbox

As part of an inspired writing exercise I wrote what this picture said to me.
Then I converted my thoughts to a poem. The last time I wrote a poem was in 1985 for an english class.
This is the first time I have written one just for me.

Rusted, worn edges
Splintered dry wood
Gun shot sides
Long have I stood

Faithfully serving
to shelter and protect
Your mail I carry
My heart you neglect

I will not deny
I will not forsake
I am your mailbox
Though I ache

Summer has passed
Winter awaits
Your heart goes on
While mine Breaks

“Loyalty and devotion lead to bravery. Bravery leads to the spirit of self-sacrifice. The spirit of self-sacrifice creates trust in the power of love.”

Morihei Ueshiba
