Unconditional Love

My Jack

You let me in your heart and you loved me
without any walls,
restraints, or hesitation.

Always ready to defend me
against any perceived danger.
Ever wanting to protect.

Bringing me so much happiness
and never hiding how happy
I make you.

Your loyalty does not waver.
Content at my side.
Unconditional love.

A dog will teach you unconditional love. If you can have that in your life, things won’t be too bad.
Robert Wagner

Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get–only with what you are expecting to give–which is everything.
Katherine Hepburn

The greatest gift that you can give to others is the gift of unconditional love and acceptance.
Brian Tracy

Hungry Wolf

Stealing moments and thoughts,
Pushing self defeating phrases into my head.
Whispering into my ears,
Lies of hypocrisy.

My worst enemy,
With me, every step,
Always at my side.
Tugging my heart,
“You are worthless”.

Every cruel, evil and unimaginable word,
Webster’s is at his disposal,
Spewing forth
Constantly,
Word after thought after word.

Stop! I blurt with all the force I can muster.
Leave, hungry wolf!
I will not listen or believe these lies!
God loves me, I love me, and we are strong enough to cast you out.

This is a dark write, but I hope it is encouraging. We do not have to settle with our demons, we can defeat them!

If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self.
Napoleon Hill

Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories.
Sun Tzu

Much of your pain is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.
Khalil Gibran

There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.
Aldous Huxley

Believe

The aroma flairs the sensations in my nostrils,
Awakening my taste buds,
Like a Pavlov’s experiment.

Neurons send signals
To my nervous system.
My stomach responds
With desire.

I feel your presence
Around me,
Affecting all my sensations,
Except my sight.

My eyes want to capture you.
For until then,
How can you exist?

“Believe it can be done. When you believe something can be done, really believe, your mind will find the ways to do it. Believing a solution paves the way to solution.”
David Joseph Schwartz

Confusion

Is that you?
I never know,
Turning up in the most mysterious places,
Treating time as if it were a game.

You seem so familiar,
Like a picture I’ve seen a thousand times,
But so unrecognizable,
Different.

I think I understand,
Though I never do.
Confusion keeps me
Unravelled.

Realism is the goal.
No distortion allowed.
Power can not be given,
Where it is not owned.

I hope it’s you.
I can only wait.
Is it you,
Or is it Ewe?

“Confusion is a word we have invented for an order which is not understood.”
Henry Miller

For Everything

Fluffy clouds above
Green grass below
Hot summer sun
And winter snow
Thanking God for everything.

Sound of music
Taste of food
Feeling of touch
Vision of beauty
Thanking God for everything.

Family
Love
Peace
Joy
Thanking God for everything.

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
Oprah Winfrey

Speculation

Do you see what I see, Chappa?
Princess has pranced over to sniff out
the new neighbor,
and bark her way up the tree.

I sensed that, Woofles.
She should not be putting her nose
where it does not belong.
I am not going there with my paws.

Ruffles? I bet you my 24 carrot
gold charm, she ends up in the
dog house when she gets home.
There will be no wagging her tail
out of this mess.

Chappa! Woofles! Let’s go
pooches! you two look like you are
watching a drama! Silly doggies.

“It is intellectually dishonest to look backwards with all the facts and judge the decisions that were made with almost none of the facts, or the facts that existed hidden in the normal cloud of endless speculation of what might happen.”

Never, Ever, Going Back.

Moving forward
Sometimes stopped.
Never, ever, going
Back.

Through rocks,
Over mountains,
Across dry plains.
Going.

The same route,
Different journey.
Forever? No, not
Ever.

With the past behind,
The future ahead.
Never turn around.
Never.

“No man is rich enough to buy back his past.”
Oscar Wilde

Little Bear

Where are you going,
Little bear?
Is it far,
Or near?

Are you running
From another?
Or running to
Your brother?

Did someone hurt you,
Little bear?
Or spook you,
And you fear?

Go eat fish
And play!
For you will be
Strong one day.

You have to do your own growing no matter how tall your grandfather was.

Morning till Night

In morning light
Studying beauty,
Appreciating style,
Admiring structure.

In afternoon gaze
Pondering depth,
Unravelling mysteries,
Finding guidance.

In darkened night
Seeking solstice,
Experiencing peace,
Revolving perspective.

“The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.”
Abraham Lincoln

Licking Wounds

In the quiet recesses of my mind
There are streams of comfort,
Cool refreshment
To a parched soul.

Water rippling around rocks,
Never stopping,
Charting paths,
Maintaining flow.

Within those moments,
I lick my wounds,
Scars of the day,
Scratches of pain.

Ointment from my tongue of thought,
Soothes and heals,
Repairs the damage,
Even if only temporary.

“Cultivate solitude and quiet and a few sincere friends, rather than mob merriment, noise and thousands of nodding acquaintances.”
William Powell
