Appearance and Reality
After cleaning up my most “Fun-tastic” piece of technology, I’m referring to my Macbook Pro of course, I went outside on the deck to compose my thoughts in the beautiful, warm, sunshine of the afternoon.
But to my astonishment my laptop was filthy! Apparently I was blinded by the interior household lighting and failed to see the smudges I had left behind on the screen, and the minute dust particles in the crevices.
What a shock when I came to the reality of the glaring sunlight, as if my laptop was trying to show me the parts of it I had not cleaned properly.
I consider myself a somewhat deep thinker, but if I compare my thoughts to those metaphysical principles of Aristotle, I come up quite mentally dust-ridden.
What realities are you forming in your head as you look at appearances? Be careful not to let the appearance distort the reality.
“Men in general judge more from appearances than from reality. All men have eyes, but few have the gift of penetration.” ~Niccolo Machiavelli
